Equipment List
Both traditional film and digital camera systems provide the technology that's right for your project.
Well NOT REALLY, or at least not any more. With the advent of the Hasselblad H3D system and its absolute state of the art 39 megapixel back the game has changed forever. Because of its huge large format sensor and complete system integration through one manufacturer this system delivers enormous files with a quality level other digital camera backs can not achieve, much less film or 35mm based digital systems. This is something as a buyer of photography you should consider carefully because it's not apparent in the quoting process. As most of my clients expect multiple usage from an image, from catalog drops to annual report covers to very large trade show prints, this system delivers files large enough to acccomodate all of them. Of course you can still get high quality shots from smaller digital systems if the intended reproduction size is smaller, so I use Canon EOS 1Ds systems for those times when reproduction size is not extreme or when circumstances are in place to exploit the advantages of a smaller system.
Matching the right equipment to the assignment is an important part of the process. Images will suffer if this part of the process is compromised. Many of the lenses used are extremely specialized in order to produce a particular result under a very specific range of circumstances. Lighting technologies and systems are also extremely important in the creation of a photograph, and because different systems have different advantages, we use a number of them to get the results we are after.
